Smart TVs make IPTV setup ridiculously easy — most modern sets (2020 and newer) can have you watching in under five minutes, no extra hardware needed. The catch: the exact steps differ between Samsung, LG, Sony and Hisense because each runs its own operating system.

This guide walks you through the recommended setup on all four major Smart TV platforms. We'll cover which app to install for each, the exact steps, how to enter your credentials, and what to do if your TV is older than 2018 (the cutoff where things get tricky).

You'll need three things before starting: your activation email (sent automatically after payment, containing your Xtream Codes credentials), your TV connected to the internet, and about five minutes of patience.

Before you begin

Two quick checks save 90% of setup headaches:

  1. Check your internet speed. On a phone connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the TV, run a speed test. You need 10 Mbps for HD, 25 Mbps for FHD, and 50 Mbps for 4K. If you're below those numbers, fix that first — no IPTV setup can compensate for inadequate bandwidth.
  2. Have your activation email open on your phone. You'll be typing the server URL, username and password using your TV remote — a famously awful experience. Having them visible on a second screen prevents typos.

Samsung Tizen (2018+)

Samsung TVs from 2018 onwards run Tizen OS and support the major IPTV player apps natively. The most reliable on Tizen are Smart IPTV and NET IPTV.

Step 1 — Install the app

  1. Press the Home button on your Samsung remote.
  2. Scroll to Apps in the bottom menu and select it.
  3. Tap the search icon (magnifying glass, top-right).
  4. Type Smart IPTV (or NET IPTV) and install.

Step 2 — Note your MAC address

Smart IPTV uses your TV's MAC address as the activation key. When you first open the app, it displays your MAC near the top of the screen — write it down or photograph it.

Step 3 — Activate

Some Samsung-friendly apps require a one-time activation. Send us your MAC address via WhatsApp or email, and we activate it from our side. This is normally done within a few minutes during business hours, faster overnight.

Step 4 — Enter Xtream Codes (NET IPTV / Smarters Pro)

For apps that accept Xtream Codes directly, open the app and look for "Add Playlist" or "Login". Choose Xtream Codes as the type, then enter:

  • Server URL: from your activation email (looks like http://server.example.com:8080)
  • Username: from your activation email
  • Password: from your activation email

Step 5 — Save and wait 5-15 minutes

The channel list loads in seconds. The EPG (programme guide) takes a bit longer to fully populate — 5 to 15 minutes is normal on first launch.

LG webOS (2018+)

LG's webOS works almost identically to Samsung Tizen. The recommended app on LG is IPTV Smarters Pro, available directly from the LG Content Store.

  1. Press Home → LG Content Store.
  2. Search for IPTV Smarters Pro and install.
  3. Launch the app → "Login with Xtream Codes API".
  4. Enter your Server URL, Username, and Password.
  5. Save. The library loads immediately.

One LG-specific tip: enable Quick Start+ in Settings → General → Mobile TV On. This keeps the TV in a low-power standby state so it boots into IPTV in 3-4 seconds instead of 15-20.

Sony Bravia (Android TV / Google TV)

Modern Sony Bravia TVs run Android TV or Google TV underneath — which means they have access to the full Google Play Store and the best IPTV apps available. The premium choice is TiviMate IPTV Player; the budget option is IPTV Smarters Pro.

  1. From the home screen, scroll to Apps → Google Play Store.
  2. Search for TiviMate and install. (TiviMate has a free version and a premium tier — start with free; upgrade if you love it.)
  3. Launch TiviMate → "Add Playlist" → "Xtream Codes".
  4. Enter Server URL, Username, Password.
  5. Save. TiviMate downloads the channel list and EPG — usually under 30 seconds.

TiviMate's interface is the best on the market for IPTV — particularly for sports browsing and EPG navigation. Worth knowing.

Hisense Vidaa & Android editions

Hisense ships TVs in two flavours: Vidaa OS (their proprietary system) and Android TV editions. Newer models default to Vidaa.

For Vidaa TVs, install Smarters Player Lite or IPTV Smarters Pro from the Vidaa App Store. The setup steps mirror Samsung Tizen — install, launch, enter Xtream Codes credentials, save.

For Hisense Android editions, follow the Sony Bravia steps above — they share the same Android TV/Google TV underpinnings.

What if my Smart TV is old?

If your TV is from 2017 or earlier, the right IPTV apps probably aren't in its store. You have three options, in order of preference:

  2. Plug in an Android TV box (€30-€100). The Xiaomi Mi Box S or Nvidia Shield (the latter for premium users) turn any TV with HDMI into a top-tier IPTV device.
  3. Plug in an Apple TV 4K (€150). Most expensive but the most polished experience. Worth it if you're already in the Apple ecosystem.

All three options give you access to a much better IPTV app catalogue than any pre-2018 Smart TV, plus thousands of other streaming apps and services. The cost is recouped within months versus a new TV.

Common first-time issues

Three issues account for nearly all first-time setup failures:

1. "Invalid credentials"

Almost always a typo. The username and password are case-sensitive, and a TV remote keyboard makes 1 vs l vs I and 0 vs O very easy to confuse. Re-type carefully from your activation email — preferably with the email open on your phone next to the TV.

2. Channels load but freeze on tune-in

This is internet, not the service. Connect your TV to your router via ethernet cable if you possibly can — Wi-Fi works but introduces variability that shows up as buffering on live streams. If wired isn't possible, move the router closer or switch to the 5 GHz band on a modern router.

3. EPG is empty after setup

The EPG (programme guide) takes 5-15 minutes to populate on first launch. If it's still blank after 30 minutes, force-refresh from inside the app's settings, or restart the app. If the EPG never loads, contact us — we can refresh it from our side.
